  • Screenings
    A presentation of a video, or collection of videos, accompanied by a talk by Roberto Arévalo is available. Screenings are tailored to the audience. Examples include videos about adolescence, women, biculturalism, art, race, culture, identity, and Colombian culture. List of screenings.

  • Presentations/Discussions
    A multi-media presentation covering the history, philosophy and teaching methodology of Beyond Documentary is available. Includes discussion, video clips, slides and Web illustrations. List of presentations.

  • Photo Exhibitions
    Beyond Documentary offers photo exhibitions from our photo archive collected over the past fifteen years. Usually our photo exhibits are accompanied by essays and/or poems.

  • Documentary Workshops (for youth or adults)
    Beyond Documentary offers an intensive, hands-on workshop that provides participants with an understanding of shooting techniques, picture composition, natural lighting and editing styles. Students will be guided through pre-production, production and post-production stages using ethnographic, cinema verite and direct cinema approaches. Through screenings, class exercises, writing and discussions, participants will be exposed to aesthetic, artistic and self-reflective perspectives. Workshop students in collaboration with the instructor will produce documentary work that will be screened at the culmination of the project. The workshop is offered for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

  • Production of videos for individuals and organizations
    Beyond Documentary can produce videos for individuals and organizations interested in video work focusing on social, cultural and artistic issues. In addition to video, there is optional photographic documentation of the development of the project. Beyond Documentary works closely with clients to understand the mission of the project and produce a solid, engaging documentary that furthers the unique vision of the individuals or organizations involved.

  • Video Editing
    Beyond documentary provides editing services to individuals and organizations interested in assembling their raw footage into a coherent piece or improving an already existing documentary.

  • Translation, interpretation, transcriptions, and subtitling
    Beyond Documentary provides translation, interpretation, transcription and subtitling services in Spanish and English for individuals and organizations working with bilingual and bicultural material.

  • Photographic Documentation
    Beyond Documentary provides photographic documentation to organizations or individuals interested in social, cultural and artistic issues.

  • Volunteering/ Internships
    We offer volunteer opportunities and internships for students/individuals with skills in graphic design, Final Cut Pro editing, public relations, speech therapy, writing, ethnography and translation in English, Spanish and French.
